After a long and pleasant weekend in Uppsala, I am finally able to put some thoughts together and reflect on how amazing the whole experience was.
We went to Uppsala with a mutual goal! To be the best we could be as a team and see how far that would take us. Therefore, I am really happy that everyone bought into the idea and made it happen.
The final match itself didn’t really start very good for us. There was a lot of energy and intensity from our side but that sometimes can also cause some stress, especially early on in the game. However, once we were able to settle down and make some adjustments to our game plan, we found ourselves again and we regained control.
This GP gold is the result of a group of hard working girls that believed and learned over the past 6 months that they could accomplish great things this season. They have been proving again and again that they are hungry to keep going and make history in the Swedish volleyball world. Personally, I am extremely proud of the team and their determination to get what they wanted! We faced some pressure in the first set when Engelholm was ahead, but we didn’t give up even though they finished the set at 25×23.
The second set started in the same way, as they took an early lead up until the middle of the set. This added pressure on us considering that we have never been in that position before, but it was also when the winning mindset kicked in. The team continued to fight and their determination finally paid off. This attitude brought us the momentum we needed for rest of the match.
The third and fourth set went exactly as we had hoped it would. We had an Efficient side out game and we played great block/defense which allowed us to finally celebrate the first GP gold in club history. We are really happy and proud to be part of this accomplishment. We know that we still have a long season ahead of us and I look forward to continuing our growth.
A big congrats to EVS Volleyball for the great performance and for making the final such an exciting match.
